Sings Like Hell

Sings Like Hell begins it's 25th season and 12th year at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara in April 2009.  The series, which got its start in the backyard of producer Peggie Jones's Santa Ynez Valley home in 1997, has become one of the mainstays of the Santa Barbara music scene and a beloved stopping place for musicians of all genres. The idea for Sings Like Hell was unusual: create a subscription series with unknown and under-appreciated singer/songwriters to play in the fanciest venue in town, wine and dine them backstage and invite the entire audience to meet the musicians at a party after the show.

"I wish every gig was like this," said Jonathan McEuen recently, as he was given a standing ovation from 500 people in the luxurious opera house.  "It's a far cry from our regular bar experience...not that we don't love bars."

The cost for six shows, one per month with two different musical artists, is $180.  Single tickets can also be purchased to individual shows for $43.00.
